Prohibited Items

Before attending a Baku 2017 Islamic Solidarity Games Venue, familiarize yourself with the list of Prohibited and Restricted Items. Items determined by Azerbaijan Government legislation as illegal, dangerous or could compromise safety will be prohibited from AISGOC venues. The prohibited items list has been compiled by the Azerbaijani Government Security Authorities (GSA). It supports the protection of people, assets and infrastructure during the Baku 2017 Games by clearly identifying items that would cause a security or safety risk to venues, workforce or visitors.

  • Explosive or other substances/objects containing explosive elements
    • Gun-powder in all packages/bundles and in all quantities
    • Shell Casings (of all calibres)
    • Gas gun hardware
    • Hunting Hardware
    • Pyrotechnic resources  (flares, fireworks, sparklers, smoke makers)
    • TNT, dynamite, plastic explosives or other explosive agents
    • Detonator capsules, electrical detonators, electrical flammables, detonating cord
  • Guns and ammunition 
    • Firearms/fire-guns
    • Signal guns
    • Pneumatic guns
    • Gas bottles
    • All types of ammunition
    • Electroshock equipment
    • All main parts to fire guns
    • All objects which can be used as, or imitated to be, guns (Toy, stick, replica, etc.)
  • Gases - compressed and non-compressed
  • Flammable liquids and solids
  • Oxidizing substances and organic peroxide substances 
  • Toxic, radioactive or other corrosive substances
  • Poisonous substances 
  • Dangerous substances/packages that may be used for attack or cause incidents during the Games.
  • Medicine/Drugs and other medical substances in excess of permitted quantity and volume (guest/visitor allowance of medicine is in quantities of 1 package, with no more than 3 types of medicine in all forms, inclusive aerosols, capsules, injections, etc. Volume of all medicines should not exceed 100 ml
  • Illegal Drugs and Psychotropic drugs
  • Knives, cutting tools and other objects or edged weapons
  • Liquids, aerosols and gels in volumes of greater than 100 ml
  • Glass containers and bottles
  • All other objects, which could be interpreted as prohibited, dangerous, or used to cause harm. 

Exceptions include

  • 1 cigarette lighter for personal use
  • Medicines, medication, inhalers and syringes for personal use
  • Key chain knives, nail clippers, nail files, grooming accessories, knitting needles, hair pins and lapel pins.  
  • Perfume bottles smaller than 100ml

Restricted Items

The Azerbaijani Security Authorities will include the identification of items that do not, in themselves, pose any security threat, but could affect spectator safety, comfort or enjoyment of competition. These include:

  • Bicycles, skateboards, scooters
  • Tripods for digital cameras (three legs (tripod) and a support (monopod)
  • Any device with a laser beam / laser pointers
  • Unlicensed Wireless Devices such as transmitters and radios
  • Large bags or bags that have a rigid frame and will not fit under the seat on the viewing platform
  • Animals (except service animals)
  • Large Umbrellas
  • Devices producing excessive noise and capable of interfering with viewing and competition (vuvuzela, drum, whistle, horn)
  • Rigid Poles, fishing poles used to hold flags (safety risks to other spectators, will restrict visibility, and impact evacuation)
  • Large food containers, ice buckets. (may block path and cause issues during evacuation)
  • Signage and banners containing, political, provocative or obscene content
  • Food not for personal consumption
  • Alcohol

Exceptions include

  • Any type of camera for spectators
  • Mobile phones, tablets and chargers. Additional batteries for personal devices
