Spectator information

Be prepared…

This information will help you to know what to expect when you attend Baku 2017 competition venues:

  • Bring your ticket and your ID or passport. 
  • Please check on your ticket for the venues spectator gates opening times. 
  • Arrive at the venue early to avoid long lines at the security screening areas at the venue entrance.  
  • Expect to go through ‘airport style’ security search at the venue entrance which can take time.  
  • Spectators with disabilities can enter the venues through the accessible lane. Please ask the Games staff if you require mobility assistance services.  
  • Food concessions will be available in all the venues.   
  • Bring cash - food concessions on the venue will accept cash only. No ATMs are available at the venues.
  • Look for the Information Points on the competition venue for information and Lost & Found items assistance. 
  • Praying rooms are available in all the venues.  
  • There is no storage available at the venues for ticket holders’ personal property.  
  • Baby buggies can be stored only at the designated areas in the venue. 
  • Smoking is allowed only in designated areas on the competition venue.

Conditions of Entry/Prohibited items

Expect an “airport style” security search at the venue entrances. Spectators will not be allowed to enter the venue with items determined by Government legislation as illegal, dangerous or that may compromise safety. It is strongly recommended for spectators to familiarize themselves with the list of prohibited and restricted items before travelling to the venues to avoid confiscation and delays to entry. All spectators must have a valid ticket to enter all the Games venues.

Tickets shall not be purchased or obtained from or through any person other than directly from Baku 2017 Official Ticket Sales channels.

All spectators under 16 years of age must have a valid ticket and be accompanied by an adult (18+) spectator with a valid ticket and a Government issued ID (Şəxsiyyət Vəsiqəsi for nationals) or Passport (for internationals).

Children under the age of two (2) do not need a ticket when accompanied by an adult with a ticket. Children must be kept on an adult’s lap without occupying a seat. The limit is one child per adult.

Spectators are not allowed to leave and re-enter the venue with the same ticket. If a spectator exits a venue, Baku 2017 may void their ticket and resell the unoccupied seat or space to another purchaser. 

Assigned seating tickets will be available only in Baku Olympic Stadium for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies, National Gymnastics Arena, Heydar Aliyev Arena and Tofiq Bahramov Stadium. Please make sure you occupy only the seat indicated on your ticket.

All the other venues will have general admission tickets where spectators can sit wherever they want in the spectators seating area.

Each ticket holder must carry their ticket at all times while attending Baku 2017 events.

Electronic ticket check will be in place at all venues. If you are unable to prove eligibility for the complimentary/child ticket, you will be refused entry to the venue and be redirected to the Ticket Box Office to purchase a full price ticket.

Transport Information

This information will help you to know what to expect when you attend Baku 2017 competition venues:

  • Please use only METRO and public BUSES to get to the competition venues.
  • Metro and public buses will operate from 06:00 AM to 01:00 AM on the competition days.
  • No PARKING will be available for spectators either inside or on public roads around the venues.


No accessible parking is available at all the competition venues. Spectators with disabilities will be allowed to arrive to the venues by car or taxi and dropped off close the spectator venue entrance.

Spectators with disabilities will need to have an Accessible ticket, a Documentary confirmation of disability or the Disability Yellow Badge on their car.

Opening & Closing Ceremonies
